However, to understand the cause of hair loss and to find the best solution for it, it is important that we look at hair from a scientific point of view. Hair is also called as the crowning glory with people spending a fortune to make sure that theirs is as smooth, beautiful or flowing as is can be.
Hair with body and volume is always preferred over thin and breakable hair. With women, long hair is still favoured over short hairdo. With this fascination with hair trends and products, hair loss is considered as taboo. Especially now that products that cater to hair loss problems are now readily available in the market.
What really causes hair loss?
Why do some people experience it and other do not? The answer to both these questions lies in the hormone called the DHT. The DHT or the Dihydrotestosterone is formed primarily in the prostate gland, testes and adrenal glands and hair follicles.
It is produced by male embryos while still developing in the womb and is responsible for the formation of male gender-specific characteristics. Because it is associated with the testosterone, it is associated with other male characteristics such as facial and body hair, voice and muscle development. The DHT is also the main cause of male pattern baldness because hair follicles tend to shrink when affected by DHT. The other causes of hair loss include serious disease, stress, and allergic reaction.
